RACE E-FONDOS ON ZWIFT

The first eSports cycling competition to feature timed segments, the series leverages the Zwift’s proven e-sports platform recreate SUAREZ Gran Fondo National Series’ timed-segment competition format in a virtual environment.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1. Sign up or log in to your Zwift account online or on your mobile device.

2. Riders must opt in to use zwiftpower.com to show up in results. See more on Connecting to ZwiftPower at https://support.zwift.com/en_us/connecting-to-zwiftpower-SyldRc_4H

3. Register on the form below so we can sync your results with who you are.

4. Select the E-Fondo you want to participate in. Scroll down for calendar or use this link.

5. Review the RoadBook below to find course details and other important information

6. On the day of the event, log in to Zwift, set up your bike, and pair your devices. The starting corral will open 30 minutes prior to the start time.

How to Win 

Timed Segments & Overall Start-to-Finish Position are used for Scoring

There are multiple timed segments in each event including sprint points, and KQOMs throughout the Zwift routes which are used for the E-Fondo Series scoring. Each of these timed segments as well as riders over-all finish position are all of equal value for a rider’s score.

Your position for each segment equates to the points you earn toward your cumulative total in your Zwift age group (AG). Your overall time / placement from start to finish in your AG also counts equally toward your points total. So, if you place 1st in your AG on Sprint #1, are 6th fastest in your AG on a KOM, 20th in AG in Sprint #2, and finish 15th over-all in you AG you earned the following: 100 points in sprint #1, 94 points on the KOM, 80 points for Sprint #2, and 85 point for your overall finish  (100 + 94 + 80 + 85 = 359 points). 

In other words your AG ranking in each sprint, each KQOM, and for overall placement are worth equal value with the highest score for each being worth 100 point for the fastest rider in each AG and the riders with the most points in each AG win.

Note: There are no overall rankings, only rankings by Zwift Age Groups.

We need your registration information so we can sync your E-Fondo results with our qualification database. Start time links are available below. After filling out the form below, scroll down to the start time links, choose your event, and click on the start time link, which will open on the Zwift website on your mobile device or computer. E-FONDO SERIES RIDER GUIDE

E-FONDO SERIES EVENT SCHEDULE

The Gran Fondo National Series presents the event schedule for the 8-event E-Fondo Series. The fourth-annual e-sports cycling competition features timed segments and Zwift’s timed segments to recreate the Series’ competition format. The E-Fondo Series will run from January 7, 2024 through February 25, 2024 with multiple opportunities for riders to compete and the opportunity to qualify for the 2024 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships event in Frederick, Maryland on September 15, 2024.

The E-Fondo Series is being run in addition to the full calendar of Gran Fondo National Series outdoor events.

E-Fondo Series events are free to enter, but do require a Zwift account.

E-Fondo Series Points Competition

Zwift League points are assigned to riders and the cumulative points earned in each race rank a ride for the E-Fondo Series using Zwift Age Groups. See results at https://www.granfondonationalseries.com/results

Zwift Age Groups used are organized are as follows

A - under 35
B - 35-39
C - 40-44
D - 45-49
E - 50-54
F - 54-59
G - 60-64
H - 65-69
I - 70-74
J - 75 and over

USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships Qualification

To compete in the 2024 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships event, riders must first qualify for a starting slot. Qualifications slots will be awarded based on rider’s placement in one or more of the 8 official E-Fondo Series events on Zwift.

To qualify, a rider must achieve one of the results below:

• TOP 15% IN POINTS COMPETITION
  Finish in the E-Fondo Series Points Competition in your age group, based on the number of starters in that age group

• COMPLETE 4+ E-FONDO EVENTS
  Complete four (4) or more E-Fondo Series events
